A lookout circular has been issued against controversial godman Asaram Bapu in connection with a sexual assault case. The Jodhpur police also served a notice asking him to be present on August 30 for questioning in Jodhpur. The police team was kept waiting for hours.
“He received the notice on Tuesday in Indore while our team reached there,” deputy commissioner (Jodhpur) Ajaypal Lamba said. Mr Lamba said the police will wait for his appearance before deciding what to do next as he has consented to cooperate with the investigations. Fearing he may leave the country, the police issued a lookout notice against Asaram Bapu. He cannot leave country without permission of the police.
Police sources said Asaram Bapu received the notice when a team of Jodhpur police reached his ashram in Indore.
In Jodhpur ,the police geared up to grill Bapu in case of sexual assault. Sources said Bapu’s followers made a request to the police team to give him more time for appearance.
The investigating team in Jodhpur has framed a questionnaires to grill the self-styled godman.
Police sources said Bapu has been evading summons for last two days as one team had also visited Ahmedabad to serve notice to him, but he had moved to Indore by then.
