National badminton coach Pullela Gopichand feels Saturday’s encounter between Saina Nehwal and P.V. Sindhu will be a test of acumen and fitness.
With the Hyderabad Hotshots and Awadhe Warriors making it to the final of the IBL, fans will once again get to witness India’s top two shuttlers facing off.
“It will be a clash of brains, styles and it will be physical power to power exchanges and the mindset as well. It will be an interesting challenge,” said Gopichand on the eve of the final.
Gopichand said that personal glory will be secondary as eventually Indian badminton will benefit.
“Overall it is a very good development that we have two players in the top 10 and both of them competing gets much better for Indian badminton than one player playing.”
Calm Jayaram wants to give his best
Hyderabad Hotshots’ Ajay Jayaram is expected to win his men’s singles tie in the final. However, the world. no. 24 said he was not under any pressure despite high expectations.
“I am quite excited. Both the teams have won many of their matches convincingly so, I think it will be an interesting tie and I am definitely looking forward to it,” he said.
