Owing to the major repair work by the BMC to improve the water distribution system, a majority of the city areas will either not get water supply or face 50 per cent water cuts on September 3 and 4.
According to the officials of the civic hydraulic department, there will be no water supply to entire A (Colaba, Fort, CST) and D (Malabar Hill, Girgaum, Tardeo) wards, while C ward (Marine Lines, Bhuleshwar) areas will not get water on September 4.
Apart from these areas, some of the island city areas, entire western suburbs from Bandra to Dahisar and some parts of eastern suburbs will face 50 per cent water cuts on September 3.
Civic officials say that the water cuts have been necessitated, as the BMC is undertaking connections between the inlet 2,750-mm diameter water pipelines to the new master balance reservoir at Bhandup complex.
