Siddaramaiah goes round the ‘City of Craters’

Bengaluru: Showing that he means business, Chief Minister Sidddaramaiah went on a whirlwind tour of the city on Saturday, listening to people’s complaints and instructing officials to redress them.  
Announcing that he would make city rounds once every two months to make sure that his orders were followed, he pulled up officials wherever projects were hugely delayed.
The tour, which came as a ray of hope to Bengalureans living with crumbling infrastructure and pothole-ridden roads, saw people meeting the Chief Minister all along the 52 km route of his tour touching Mekhri Circle, the Rajajinagar Metro station, Uttarahalli Ring Road, Central Silk Board junction, Outer Ring Road, Kasturba Road and Queen’s Road.
While some areas like Mysore Road had received an overnight facelift with potholes disappearing in time for the Chief Minister’s visit, officials received a drubbing from him for the delay on the CNR Rao underpass which has not been completed even three years after the work on it resumed.
With traffic diverted at many places in Vijayanagar and on Mysore Road to make way for the Chief Minister’s convoy, heavy traffic jams were reported from most parts of Bengaluru West. The traffic congestion continued till afternoon.
Siddaramaiah who was accompanied by Mayor Katte Sathyanarayana, commissioner M. Lakshminarayana, home minister, K J George, and city police commissioner, Raghavendra Auradkar was supposed to begin his tour at 9.30 am but began it an hour later.
