Wrestling completed an unprecedented Olympic comeback on Sunday, recl-aiming its spot in the 2020 Tokyo Games after beating bids from rivals squash and baseball/softball in an International Olympic Committee vote.
Wrestling, that featured in ancient Olympics and in every modern Games besi-des 1900, was taken off the Games in February. “I want to offer my gratitude to each member of the IOC that voted to save Olympic wrestling,” international wres-tling federation president Nenad Lalovic said. This result marks a turnaround for the sport which overhauled its rules, admi-nistration, gender equity and operations.
