Security in the city beefed up

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner Anurag Sharma said on Tuesday that elaborate security arrangements have been put into place for the final day of the Ganesh idol immersion. About 15,000 security personnel have been deployed in the city. The tight vigilance includes 32 bomb disposal squads with 25 sniffer dogs.
“All arrangements have been completed for the annual procession of Ganesh idol immersions. Nearly 15,000 security personnel from the state police, including 13 companies of paramilitary forces, are being deployed to ensure that the final procession passes off peacefully,” said the police commissioner.
Meanwhile, Cyberabad police has deployed over 7,300 security personnel as part of immersion bandobust.
Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand supervised preparations at the 24 lakes where idols will be immersed.
800 CCTV cameras keep watch on rally
Hyderabad police has identified 290 hyper-sensitive and 580 sensitive areas in the city, and the surveillance has been tightened with the installation of 800 CCTV cameras in different parts of the city, controlled by a ‘Command and Control Centre’.
“We have installed additional cameras apart from those of the traffic police to strengthen the surveillance,” Hyderabad police commissioner Anurag Sharma said, adding that the police will also keep a close eye on the procession routes.
“Over 390 mobile patrolling teams will be on the roads as part of the security arrangements. We will also closely monitor movement of anti-social elements,” he said.
The police chief said the Ganesh Utsav Committee have been co-operating with the police. Thousands  of small and big Ganesh idols are expected to be immersed in the Hussainsagar lake and in other lakes across the city, for which police has already announced traffic diversions on specific routes.
