A city court on Saturday granted bail to two youth arrested in NRI student Anmol Sarna’s murder case for allegedly helping in procuring drugs and remanded a third accomplice to two days’ judicial custody.
Metropolitan magistrate Deepak Wason granted bail to Bhuwan Sharma and Nehul on the grounds that the police had failed to show recovery of large quantity of drugs from their possession, and only sale and purchase happened.
The judge granted bail to the duo on furnishing of personal bond of `25,000 with a surety of the like amount.
The court, however, remanded Dushyant Lamba, who was also arrested along with Bhuwan and Nehul, to two days in judicial custody after the police did not seek his custody.
The trio was arrested on Friday from Noida in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the judge pulled up the Delhi police saying that instead of investigating the murder of the deceased, they are probing the drug supply in India.
It said that by imposing tougher sections of NDPS Act, they (police) are diverting from main case of murder.
Six persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of 24-year old Anmol, who died on the night of September 17, after a party at one of his friend’s house at an apartment in south Delhi.
The police had said Anmol and his friends Shivank Gambhir, Madhav Bhandari, Pranil Shah and Ritham Girhotra had consumed drugs in Pranil’s bedroom.
Surender Bali (40) and Naresh Mishra (60), guards at the South Park Apartments, have been arrested under Section 302 (murder) of IPC for causing grievous head injuries to Anmol with batons after he allegedly created a ruckus at the house of Pranil.
Shivank, Madhav, Ritham and Pranil have been arrested under section 22/27/29 of the NDPS Act for consumption of the contraband drug.
