[1]It’s the season of young performers making it big to Bollywood. The latest addition to list is, Suryaveer Hooja, a young city-based singer who is garnering huge attention. He has been performing across India with his contemporary rock band, Ehaas. The singer is making his debut in singing for Bollywood with a romantic film, Prague.
“I have sung two songs in the film, Aye Zindagi, remake of the classic from Sridevi-starrer Sadma. This is the main promo song of the movie and Ik Pal, an experimental rock song,” shares the singer. I like blending Western and Indian styles of music together, which is what makes these compositions very youth-centric,” shares the singer.
Talking about the challenges that he had to face before entering Bollywood, Suryaveer says, “Well, the competition is really stiff and there is no dearth of talented artists. But it is hard work, perseverance and calculated risks that one needs to take care of if one needs to achieve heights.”
Alternative rock, blues, ballads and pop influence this young lad. When quizzed about his passion for music, the singer shares, “I believe in good showmanship, great energy and a powerful appeal while performing. This is what instantly connects one instantly with our generation.”
When asked about the music scene in the capital, he says, “Delhi is full of young and energetic people, who listen to mixed genres with equal fervour. Be it hard rock, Bollywood, jazz or traditional folk — there is an audience here that can appreciate all kinds of music,” concludes the singer, who is also judging a reality show with a popular channel on television .
