Telangana note yet to get political nod: Shinde

Hyderabad: Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde has said that he has not got the ‘political nod’ to proceed with the Telangana process and has not yet approved the Union home ministry note on Telangana.
Shinde had two meetings on Tuesday, one with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and the other with a high level Telangana delegation led by Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha.
Briefing newspersons, civil supplies minister D. Sridhar Babu who was part of the delegation of Telangana ministers, MPs and MLAs, said, “Shinde asked us to convey on his behalf that he has so far not approved any note on Telangana from the home ministry. He also said categorically that there were no three proposals pertaining to Hyderabad status like declaring it as Union Territory, or making it the permanent capital or joint capital with some powe-rs vested with the Centre.”
Senior minister Mr K. Jana Reddy reportedly told Mr Shinde that it was not right to delay the process of forming a separate state of Telangana, which was announced almost 50 days ago. “On the one side Seemandhra leaders are claiming that because of their efforts T-process is being delayed, and on the other side Telangana people are becoming restive as nothing has moved after the Congress Working Committee decision,” he said.
The Telangana delegation made it clear to the Union home minister that any delay will only escalate tension and may lead to unnecessary violence in the region.
Agreeing to their suggestions, Shinde told them the Centre is keen to go ahead with the process of state formation.
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy had a one-on-one talk with Shinde almost immediately after the Telangana delegation met the Union home minister.
It is reliably learnt that Shinde told the Chief Minister that he is still to receive the ‘political nod’ to go ahead with the T process. He hinted that the T process may pick up momentum after the Prime Minister returns from the United States in the first week of October.
