Hyderabad, Aug. 7: The Audi Quattro Cup held at the Boulder Hills Golf and Country Club saw an elite group of amateur golfers competing for the honours on Saturday.
The team of Jiten Singh, manager, Focus Corporation and Madhav Kota, director, Metamax Communications emerged as winners after keenly contested rounds.
Srinivas Suryadevara, director, Peninsular Marketing Pvt Ltd. and Dinesh Kumar, CEO & MD, XL Telecom & Energy Ltd., finished as runner-up while the duo of Philip Bensen, MD, Franklin Templeton International, and Jayant Tagore, MD, Cynthoiceom Lab, came third.
Philip Bensen was all praises for the tournament. “It is a very good initiative by Audi. The concept and idea of organising such meets is excellent,” said Bensen.
“The golf course is beautiful and this was the time I played with these set of golfers since it was like a corporate event,” he said, adding, “I must say I enjoyed the game and it was a good event.”
Of the 75 golf enthusiasts who teed off in the one-day event, the top two teams will participate in the National final to be held in September.
In the various skills competition held alongside the main event, A. Sridhar Reddy won the “straightest drive” prize while Ranganath Thota won the “closest to the pin” award.
Vasu Merugu emerged as the winner in the “longest drive” contest.
The Maximum Pars competition was won by the team comprising Dayakar Reddy and Pradeep K. Mittal.
