Percussionist and tabla player Bickram Ghosh is proving to be a talented jack-of-all-trades. Besides music, the man has dabbled in various other expressions of art including acting in a Bengali film, judging a reality show and most recently walking the ramp.
Now he’s back with his third Bollywood composition Gumshuda directed by Ashok Vishwanathan. But the musician considers composing film music a side job. “I don’t want to work for run-of-the-mill films. Projects that are slightly offbeat interest me,” he says.
Speaking of Gumshuda, he says, “When Ashok approached me, I liked it because it’s a crime-thriller based on an Arthur Conan Doyle story. The songs are different and have an old feel to it. We’ve also used a lot of gizmos on the tracks.” Earlier he had worked on Little Zizou and Devaki.
“I had left Devaki because there were some issues. They retained my songs and gave me credit in the titles, but still the experience put me off,” he says.
