A yet to be identified man hurled a brown leather shoe at Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mr Omar Abdullah, during the Independence Day function at a heavily-guarded stadium here on Sunday.
Mr Abdullah was just about to take the salute after unfurling the tricolour when someone from behind flung a shoe at him, which missed hitting the Chief Minister.
Unconfirmed reports say that the shoe thrower is a police officer. He was rounded up by Abdullah's security men and taken out of the Bakhshi Stadium, the venue for the Independence Day celebrations.
