While there were rumours that Boney Kapoor was all set to remake the Malayalam superhit, Bodyguard, it is actually Salman Khan’s brother-in-law, Atul Agnihotri, who will be making the film. Atul has already got the rights to the film and Salman Khan will be starring in the lead role, but the leading lady is yet to be finalised. The Malayalam version of Bodyguard had Dileep and Nayanthara in the lead roles and was directed by Siddique. Incidentally, the Tamil star Vijay, is also keen to remake the film in Tamil.
According to our source, “While Boney has been making announcements about various films starring Salman Khan, which include the sequel to No Entry, the sequel to Mr India and the Bollywood remake of Bodyguard, none of the films are ready to go on floors. It is Atul, who has got the rights of the film and will start it by the end of the year. It is unclear if Atul will be directing or just producing the film but the shooting will definitely begin soon.”
Whether the film goes on to be a hit like its original and who the leading lady will be, remains to be seen.
