Suspected Maoists on Thursday shot dead a former rebel for deserting their cadre at Amenegar under Binnu police station in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, police said.
A group of armed ultras swooped on the village of Amenegar in the morning and dragged Patru, a former Maoist, who has surrendered before the police recently, and shot him from very close range. He died on the spot. Later, the ultras circulated leaflets in the village, in which they justified the killing alleging that the “deserter” betrayed his own comrades by siding with police. “Patru was not a police informer,” additional superintendent of police, Narayanpur district said.

Couple held in missing ammo case

The police has made a breakthrough in the missing 164 trucks loaded with explosives and arrested a couple from Gujarat. The Bhilwara police picked up Shivcharan Heda and his wife Dipa in Ahmadabad on Thursday. “Yes, our team has picked up Heda couple from Gujarat,” said a senior police officer from Bhilwara.
“The police team is headed for Bhilwara with the couple for questioning in this regard. The couple, reportedly, owns several firms dealing with explosives,” he added.

US alerts its nationals on Games visit
Washington : The US has asked its citizens to be alert and cautious for their security during the upcoming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in October, but, said it had no specific information on any terrorist threat.
“The US government has no information on any specific threat of attack that any individual or group is planning to coincide with the Games,” the state department said. “In the event the US government receives information of any specific threat, the department of state would inform public.” —PTI
