The hearing on the bail application of former Gujarat minister, Mr Amit Shah, arrested for his alleged involvement in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case was on Thursday adjourned till September 16, following the illness of the special CBI judge.
Being unwell, special CBI judge P.P. Bhatt was not available for hearing the arguments.
Shah's lawyer Mitesh Amin along with CBI counsel, mutually agreed for September 16 as the next hearing date.
Earlier the hearing was deferred four times due to unavailability of Shah's senior counsel Ram Jethmalani or the CBI counsel K.T.S. Tulsi. However, Jethmalani was present in the court on Thursday.
Mr Shah, a former Minister of State for Home and close aide of Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, was arrested by CBI on July 25 in connection with the fake encounter case and charged with murder, extortion and kidnapping.
Mr Shah's bail application was filed on July 26, a day after his arrest.
Four IPS officers have been arrested in the case so far by the investigating agencies and role of the then investigating officer Geeta Johri, is also under scanner. She has been interrogated several times by the CBI so far.
Those IPS officers arrested in the case include D.G. Vanzara, Raj Kumar Pandiyan, Dinesh M N, and Abhay Chudasma.
