A day after chief minister Sheila Dikshit cast aspersions of corruption on the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, her colleague and Delhi PWD minister Raj Kumar Chauhan stated that the city government was ready for any probe into the Commonwealth Games projects. He also stated that all the departments have already been instructed to prepare the details.
While welcoming the government-ordered probe into the organisation of Commonwealth Games, Mr Chouhan asserted that “the Delhi government’s conduct has been clean”. He added that the city government would cooperate with any investigation to nail the “wrong-doers”.
“The probe is welcome. All the money that comes through tax is of the common man and if there is any corruption, it should be probed,” said the minister.
In a virtual war of words, the OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi on Sunday asked Mrs Dikshit to reflect on corruption in her departments. Mr Chouhan, however, said that all departments of the city government have already been told to prepare details of all the projects. “If any inquiry is done by the CVC or CAG or any other department, we will support it,” added the minister.

CM: Heavy traffic fine could stay
New Delhi, Oct. 17: Chief minister Sheila Dikshit has favoured strict penalties for traffic violations in the capital such as the one of `2,000 that was prescribed for vehicles straying into the Commonwealth Games lanes. She thanked Delhiites for observing discipline during the Games and hoped it will continue. “The people of Delhi have really risen to the occasion, including the police... Every Delhiite rose to the occasion,” Ms Dikshit said here. She was particularly happy over the way the Delhiites observed traffic rules during Games.
She agreed that traffic discipline was ensured mainly because of the heavy fine of `2,000 for the vehicles straying into lanes dedicated for Games-related traffic.
“Challans have to be there. I think this has been a great lesson for all of us,” she said. —PTI
