While most stars go the entire eight miles for vanity, he would rather scare you with a picture of his bloody eye. Switching between accents, antics and anecdotes, he single-handedly ensures the sustenance of mimicry in the country and as he plays the moustached Chulbul Pandey on screen, one almost wonders if the difference between real and reel is mooch, err, moot. That’s Salman Khan for you, one of the few Indian heroes who can still bring the front benchers to their feet, while they throw change at the screen. After his recently concluded “Being Human” show in Mumbai, we spoke to him about life post Dabanngg.
Busy tweeting these days, Salman is in full gear as he promotes the latest line of watches from his Being Human line. “Being Human is about creating opportunities and with this new line, there are more and more people involved on a day-to-day basis,” he told us.
Urging fans to not buy the line if they are unable to afford it and insisting that they stay away from fakes, he says that the entire point of the line would be invalid, if people start buying fakes instead of the real thing. “The collection is about doing good and looking good. When someone chooses to wear anything from the line, then he is expressing support about the causes, which for the watches are education and health care, and at the same time shows their personal style,” he said.
Coming back to television for the fourth season of the reality show Bigg Boss, Salman promises more entertainment and spice than ever before, something that the promos reflected as well. After his last run with Dus Ka Dum and the famous catch phrase Kitne pratishat bharatiya, expectations are higher than ever. And he says what he gets to the platter is his real self. “What is the point of doing reality TV if you are putting on a screen persona. What the audience sees on TV is the real me,” he tells us. But then hosting a show like Bigg Boss has to be different from his previous, where he was a game show host. We asked whether he would be able to survive in the house if he had to participate. “I’ve been in prison with the whole nation watching. And it wasn’t even a TV show,” he told us candidly.
