A powerful blast ripped through a mosque packed with Friday worshippers on the outskirts of the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar on Friday, killing at least three people and injuring 20 others.
The incident occurred at the mosque situated in Pishtakharra area when worshippers were offering prayers, Dunya News reported. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain was quoted as saying that three people were killed and 20 others injured in the explosion.
He termed the terror attack as a reaction to the ongoing military offensive against militants in the country's restive northwest. The police said 1.5 kg of explosives were used in the attack, for which no group has so far claimed responsibility. Preliminary reports said the bomb was planted at the mosque's verandah.
