London , Oct. 29: Preity Zinta, who also owns a share in Indian Premier League team Kings XI Punjab, revealed that the Punjab franchise had decided to move court against the BCCI move to disqualify the team from the league.
“Yes, we are planning to move court,” Preity said before walking off saying the matter is “sub-judice and I am not going to be talking about the matters in court.” She was speaking at a function where she was conferred a honorary doctorate of the arts from University of East London.
The honour for Preity continues the UK trend of honouring Bollywood celebrities: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan last year got a hononary doctorate in arts and culture from the University of Bedfordshire and Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman too received one from London’s Middlesex University last year.
Honoured for her contribution to world cinema and humanitarian work, Preity said she was excited to receive the doctorate and was unsure if she would use the honorary title being conferred on her.
“In my career, I have always been awarded for my work in films, but this is the first time I am being awarded for my voluntary work, my humanitarian work. This award is extremely precious to me,” said Preity.
