New Delhi, Nov. 16: As the government laid before Parliament the CAG report on the 2G spectrum controversy on Tuesday, the Supreme Court questioned the Prime Minister for taking 16 months to respond to an application for the grant of sanction to prosecute the former communications minister, Mr A. Raja, and the CBI taking 11 months to register the case after the matter was brought to the notice of the PM.
Saying that the Prime Minister’s “silence” for such a long time was “troubling” the court, a bench of Justices G.S. Singhvi and A.K. Ganguly allowed the solicitor-general, Mr Gopal Subramaniam, time till November 18 to examine the entire record and report back the correct factual position to explain the reasons for the abnormal delay.
