Virtually rejecting the demand for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) into the 2G spectrum scam, Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday said the matter could be looked into by the the Public Accounts Committee
.
“Let the CAG report be considered by the PAC. If further action is required, we will look into that but let there be a discussion on the floor of the House,” he told reporters on the sidelines of Indian Tea Association’s Annual General Meeting here.
He said the PAC was a form of a permanent JPC chaired by a member of the Opposition.
Asked what the government was doing to break the deadlock in Parliament, he said: “It is unfortunate that Parliament is facing disruptions instead of having debate and discussions. I hope normalcy will be restored next week,” Mr Mukherjee said.
Referring to the Commonwealth Games scam, he said the government had already initiated investigations by various agencies. “I do not know what more they want.” —PTI
