The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) to share experiences on controlling cyber crime.
The MoU will establish collaboration between law enforcement agencies through Cyber and Hi-Tech Crime Investigation and Training (CHCIT) of the CBI and the information technology industry through Data Security Council of India (DSCI) and NASSCOM.
The collaboration aims to share information on security standards and new challenges in managing cyber crime.
'With the advent of new technology, the investigation profession is seeing new approaches, solutions and techniques for solving specific and generic problems. The MoU will help the law enforcement agencies to fight the growing threat of cyber crime,' said Ashwani Kumar, director, CBI.
The CHCIT centre will serve as a networking platform for this purpose. NASSCOM and DSCI will act as a knowledge partner for the CBI in the cyber security areas, he said.
Som Mittal, president, NASSCOM, said: 'The MoU with the CBI will let NASSCOM play the role of 'facilitator'. It will ensure active involvement in bringing the latest technological developments from across the globe and the industry to the CBI.'
