The Opposition did not allow the Parliament to function on Monday and persisted with its demand for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the various scams, including the allocation of 2G spectrum, leading to adjournment of both the Houses till Tuesday.
In the Lok Sabha, the Opposition NDA members rushed to the Well as soon as the House assembled demanding a JPC probe into the scams, including allocation of 2G spectrum.
To counter them, the Congress members raised slogans against the Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa citing his alleged involvement in controversial land deals. They also showed placards demanding the ouster of the chief minister.
As chaos ruled, the Lok Sabha had to be adjourned at 11.05 am till noon. When it reconvened, the House was adjourned till November 23 within minutes as the Opposition’s protests continued.
The Rajya Sabha too witnessed chaotic scenes with Opposition members led by the BJP and AIADMK remaining adamant on its demand for joint parliamentary committee probe in the 2G spectrum issue, while Congress insisted on sacking of Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa over corruption charges.
The Opposition BJP and AIADMK members rushed to the Well of the house, demanding the setting up of a JPC to probe the 2G spectrum issue.
Official papers were placed before the House amid the din by opposition and Congress members. As the uproar persisted, Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourned the Upper House till Tuesday.
