New Delhi: Stating that the government was 'indifferent to the problem of corruption', senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani said on Thursday that the Central Vigilance Commission and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) were 'being used as instruments for achieving political ends'.
"The government is indifferent to the problem of corruption," Advani said at a press conference to explain the opposition's view on the raging issue of corruption that has stalled parliament for 15 days.
He also reiterated the demand for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the 2G spectrum allotment scandal.
"We are not of the view that parliament should proceed as it is proceeding," Advani said.
"For that, the government is solely to blame."
He said allegations in key scandals - 2G spectrum allotment, Commonwealth Games and Mumbai's Adarsh housing society - were issues that affected governance and the 'nation as a whole'.
Advani said the BJP and other parties of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would 'protest inside and outside parliament'against corruption.
