The impasse between the government and the Opposition over Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into alleged 2G spectrum scam continued in Parliament for 15th consecutive day, as both the Houses were adjourned on Thursday. But like on Wednesday the two Houses could transact some essential financial business amidst din.
While the Lok Sabha passed the Supplementary Demands For Grants (Railways) for 2010-11, the Rajya Sabha returned the Supplementary Demands For Grants (General) for the current fiscal.
When the Lok Sabha met after its first adjournment in the morning, Opposition members again raised slogans over their demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee but Speaker Meira Kumar went ahead with the business for the day.
The Speaker first asked for the papers to be laid on the table of the house and then called railway minister Mamata Banerjee to move the appropriation bills relating to the Supplementary Demands For Grants (Railways) for 2010-11.
The Huse passed the bills with voice votes amid continuous slogan shouting by the Opposition members. The bill authorises payment and appropriation of further sums from the Consolidated Fund of India for the services of the financial year 2010-11 for the railways.
Earlier on Thursday morning when the House assembled for the day the scene was chaotic as the opposition members trooped to the Well shouting slogans of “We want JPC”.
