Two senior Delhi police officers are in the dock for allegedly forging the official records to implicate a former crime branch inspector in a corruption case, as a city court on Friday ordered registration of a criminal case against joint commissioner of police (vigilance) N. Dileep Kumar and former deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Anti Corruption Branch, of the Delhi government I.D. Shukla for their alleged involvement in the offence. After going through a complaint filed by K.G. Tyagi, a former crime branch inspector, the Tis Hazari Court Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Vinod Yadav ordered registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the JCP (Vigilance) Kumar and former DCP, Shukla and others.
The complaint, filed by Mr Tyagi under the Criminal Code of Procedure (CrPC), also named retired ACP H.P.S. Sodhi, two ACPs K. R. Meena and Hira Lal, two inspectors Virender Kadyan and Y.S. Negi and senior scientific officer, forensic science laboratory, D. Venkates-hwarly, as accused. Taking a serious view of the alleged offences committed by the two senior officers, the court said, “If the law laid down by the Delhi HC is applied to the facts and circumstances of the case, then it would be clearly apparent that cognisable offences have been committed by the senior police officials of the ACB as well as FSL Hyderabad. Therefore, the matter required to be investigated.”
The CMM ordered that the matter would be investigated by the Special Cell of the Delhi police and directed it to file a report on January 10.
