The crime branch of the Rajasthan police has found that Rajasthan Explosive and Chemical Ltd (RECL) had supplied around 6 lakh kg of explosives above to the permitted limit to two business firms. The CID CB also noted that payment in tune of `4 crores were made through Gujarat. The police has put all such details in the chargesheet.
The police filed the chargesheet before the chief judicial magistrate in Dholpur against four RECL officials, including managing director B.D. Agarwal, general manager Edward Kelly and two others. The chargesheet, based on over 10,000 pages, detailed how RECL supplied the explosives to two Madhya Pardesh based firms — Ganesh Explosive and Sangam Explosives — and violated the law.
“We made four arrest so far, but the police will make more arrests soon, the investigation is still under way,” says the deputy SP of CID CB, Rajendar Singh Shekhawat.
According to the chargesheet, Sangam explosives got 103 trucks full of explosives from RECL while Ganesh received 57 trucks.
“We booked them under offences committed under Explosive Act and IPC,” Mr Shekhawat said.
The RECL is located at Dholpur and is granted license to manufacture explosives for industrial use under the law. But the authorities said RECL violated the law and has given supply of explosive to these firms above the permissible limit. The RECL, however, denied the allegations.
According to the police, payment for the explosives was made in Rajkot, Gujarat.
