In a startling revelation, Maoist state committee secretary Kanchan has disclosed that the Maoists are into a deal with the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), a banned militant outfit of Manipur. Kanchan who was arrested on Friday, told the police that the aim of the deal was to receive continuous supply of arms and ammunitions to sustain their extremist movement in West Bengal and its neighbouring states.
Interrogating him, the detectives of the Kolkata police’s Special Task Force (STF) learnt that it was Kanchan who had played a key role on behalf of the Maoists in establishing the link with the KCP. Some seized CDs and documents containing the armed training modules corroborated the disclosure made by Kanchan.e of providing training to the KCP militants in the core forest of Jharkhand. Additional commissioner of police (II) and STF chief Rajeev Kumar on Sunday said, “The Maoists forged the deal with the KCP nearly eight months ago.” Elaborating on the “deal”, Mr Kumar explained that the Left wing-ultras received arms and ammunition from the KCP in exchange of providing training to the KCP militants in the core forest of Jharkhand. The Maoists were also in talks with two other Manipur-based insurgent groups, besides having links with some soft-outfits in Philippines and few other countries, he added.

AP Maoist in C’garh to expand base

Dec. 5: A top Maoist leader of Andhra Pradesh — Malla Raji Reddy alias Sayanna — is believed to have been given the task of building a red corridor between south and western Orissa through Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district to ensure smooth movement of rebels between Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand, a senior police officer quoting intelligence reports said here on Sunday.
“Sayanna was spotted along with a Bastar Naxal leader Pramod in Rekhadadar forests in Mahasamund district in November. He was reportedly on a mission to build a rebel base in the jungles of Mahasamund to open a red corridor between Maoist stronghold of south Orissa, bordering Andhra Pradesh and mineral rich western Orissa which borders Jharkhand. He was also supervising the plan to take control of the area from the local administration with the help of 80-member strong rebel militiamen”, the police officer told this newspaper.
Later, the Chhattisgarh police launched a massive anti-Maoist operations.
