Jalna: Maharashtra Andhshraddha Nirmulan Samiti (ANS) founder Dr Narendra Dabholkar has expressed hope that the Anti-Superstition Bill will soon be tabled in the Maharashtra Assembly.
Addressing mediapersons on Monday, Dahbolkar said the political situation to pass the bill seems to be favourable in the state. He claimed that the bill has been supported by the legislators cutting across party lines.
The ANS chief said that he is not against any belief but is against the use of superstition or belief to cheat people.
He expressed deep concern over programmes screened by some TV channels which promote superstition and cheat people. He said that he would meet Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and demand to ban such misleading programmes.
He said the Samiti is also considering to file petition in the court against TV channels showing such programmes.
About his campaign against superstition, Dahbolkar said the Samiti has been conducting campaign against the superstition and self style godmen who cheat the innocent people.
He stressed the need to create awareness among the people against the false beliefs.
