Here comes more trouble for embattled former telecom minister A. Raja.
The Madras High Court has confirmed that it was A Raja, who in 2009, allegedly tried to influence a High Court judge linked to a bail plea filed by a father and son in a medical exam cheating case.
Judge R Reghupathi has written to the Chief Justice of India claiming that it was Raja who had called him up, seeking an anticipatory bail for a medical student and his father, who were in June 2009, accused of cheating in an exam marksheet.
And later in the month, Justice Reghupathi revealed while hearing the bail plea that a union minister was trying to influence the case.
Despite the minister's identity remaining a secret until today, rival party AIADMK's leader, J Jayalalithaa, has often alleged that it was indeed Raja who has called up the judge.
