Dec. 14: A red-faced Pakistan Army has hurriedly removed from its website the records of an alleged suicide bomber of ISI who died in New Delhi in November 2007 of renal failure.
According to the website, www.pakistanarmy.gov.pk [1], the ISI operative on a “suicide attack operation” died in a New Delhi hospital on November 16, 2007.
The posting was in the Shuhada’s (martyrs) corner of the website, which has the list of Pakistan’s dead in the 1999 Kargil operation. It named the operative as Zulfiqar Ahmed, his army number as 1726016 and his rank as Naik.
Reacting to the development, the Indian Army chief, Gen. V.K. Singh, said that it had made clear the intentions of the Pakistani Army. With the issue becoming a controversy, the name and records disappeared from the website apparently to erase solid proof that Pakistani Army is a direct perpetrator of terrorism against India. In fact, the website could not be accessed all through the day appeared to have been shut down.
