Islamabad, Dec. 17: Pakistan and China on Friday vowed to work together for peace and stability in the region. During the one-on-one meeting between the Pakistan Prime Minister, Mr Yousaf Raza Gilani, and the Chinese Premier, Mr Wen Jiabao, here, the two leaders pledged to cement strategic and trade relations, officials privy to the meeting said.
“The two leaders agreed that both the countries can promote peace and stability in the region by cooperating in all sectors,” said an official at the Prime Minister’s Office.
On arrival in Islamabad on Friday, Mr Wen said Pakistan being an important country in the region, has made positive contributions to peace, stability and development of the region and the world.
“The purpose of my visit this time is to solidify friendship, deepen cooperation, support Pakistan’s efforts of post-disaster reconstruction, and ring-in, together with Pakistan, the 60th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations in 2011,” Mr Wen said.
In his remarks at the airport, Mr Gilani said the Sino-Pak relations were “unprecedented” and the whole Pakistani nation stood as one to further deepen and broaden ties with the brotherly nation of China. He said both the countries have potential to further improve relations in various sectors.
