With a view to promote education in madarsa, Uttar Pradesh board of madarsa education has given affiliation to 100 new madarsa in the state.
"We have given affiliation to 100 new madarsa in Uttar Pradesh. With this there would be a total of 1,700 madarsa in the state affiliated to the board," a UPMBE official told PTI.
These new madarsa, besides "deeni" (religious) education, will also impart education in english, computer and hindi to the students, he said.
The admission in these new affiliated madarsa will start from the next academic session 2011-12.
Of the total 1,700 madarsa, 499 are given aid by the government, he added.
