If you thought drainpipes are in, you just might be mistaken, so if you really want to be in vogue, our style experts will give a lowdown on the list of “oh-so-last-year” looks that one should bid goodbye to. So, gear up to make some alterations in your closet.
What to wear
Designer Nida Mehmood suggests that tunics are boring and out, and one should graduate to dresses and umbrella skirts with feminine tops. She adds, “Low-waist jeans and pants are dated, it’s time we moved on to high waists. Avoid boyfriend jeans and jumpsuits, the craze is over now. Straight fit pants are passé, so move to tapered and slim fit ones. And for winters, replace regular trench coats with stylish dress coats in vibrant shades.”
Pointy toe heels and pencil heels are totally out, says designer Anjana Bhargav. “It’s also time to say no to those supersized round frame sunglasses,” she adds with a smile.
Hair we go!
If you are planning a new hairdo, keep it short and sexy, says hairstylist Jawed Habib. “This year it’s all about short haircuts and the Bob cut with bangs seems to be a clear favourite. Straight hair is out and so are tight curls,” he adds. And as far as hair colour goes, Jawed suggests that one should avoid going blonde and stay away from deep shades like maroon and shiny red.
Flaunt it right
Talking about the colours which are out this season, designer Siddartha Tytler suggests avoiding the colour black and adds, “This year it is all about bright and happy colours like berry pink and cherry which also look great in summer.”
bling it on
In the jewellery department, Siddartha says heavy Polki sets are out. “I’ve often seen people flaunting Polkis with Western outfits. But let me tell you it’s an awful combination,” says Siddartha.

When it comes to bags, Siddartha opines “Small sling bags are over. It’s time for bigger totes as they make the perfect arm candies.”
What’s not hot for guys
When it comes to footwear, guys should avoid canvas shoes, informs Siddharth. “It’s a season to flaunt loafers in leather or denims,” he adds.
So, if you really want to get into the groove, say hello to bright colours that will accentuate your warm personality.
