Multi-tasking will be the name of the game for the Delhi police which has changed its rules with regard to recruitment, making it mandatory for the men hoping to join the force as constable or sub-inspector to possess a valid driving licence.
An amendment in the Delhi Police (Appointment and Recruitment) Rules in this regard has been cleared by the Delhi lieutenant-governor Tejendra Khanna, a senior police official said.
“This will help in multi-tasking. Nowadays, drivers just do driving and take up no other responsibility. Now anybody can be assigned any task,” a senior police official said.
The official said the new move comes as the senior police officials view that the force cannot operate in the “old mode” any longer and there was a need for a “new thinking” in using human resources. —PTI
