Cops find disparity in boy’s statement

Even as the panel constituted by AIIMS for inquiry into the alleged sexual abuse case involving a minor boy and a junior doctor could not submit its report by Tuesday evening, the initial investigations by the police has found inconsistencies in the statement given by the victim.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights too has been asked to carry out an inquiry into the incident.
The panel led by senior doctor and the head of department of endocrinology and metabolism, A.C. Ammini, was to submit the report on Tuesday but sources maintained that it may be done by Wednesday. The panel has not formally asked for an extension. However, the AIIMS authorities remained tight-lipped about the inquiry.
Meanwhile, the police, which had registered an FIR in connection with the allegations on Monday, got the boy medically examined. Although a final report was yet to come, initial reports indicated that the evidence of boy being sexually abused not very clear. The police sources maintained that they are also trying to verify the claims made in the complaint by the father of the victim. On the other hand, the accused junior doctor, who was questioned by the panel, has maintained that he was not involved in any such act. He has narrated every detail of his movements on the night of January 23, when he was alleged to have sexually abused the boy.
Prior to that, the committee had carried out psychological tests on the boy and also made him identify the doctor.
