A medical assistant of a private hospital, who allegedly raped a dalit woman in the district, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody for 14 days, the police said on Saturday.
A 22-year-old woman was raped by Salim Mohmmad at a private hospital in Hapur on Thursday night, where the woman's 3-year-old daughter was undergoing treatment, Superintendent (rural) of Police M.M. Beg said.
Salim was arrested last night and a local court sent him to 14 days, judicial custody.
Hospital administrator R.B. Bhardwaj said the accused was terminated from his official duties after the incident came to light.
