A bill ensuring right to justice for all is expected to be introduced in Parliament in the next five to six months, Union law minister M. Veerappa Moily said here on Saturday.
“We are contemplating the Right to Justice Bill so that nobody should feel alienated...,” Mr Moily told reporters after addressing Congress workers at the party office here.
He said the bill will take care of economic, social and political justice. Justice has to be made available and accessible to everyone. On electoral reforms, the minister said it was a national agenda and not restricted to any single political party.

CEC for political party funding through cheques
Chandigarh, Feb. 5: Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi said on Saturday that he is in favour of political party funding through cheques, declaration of assets by them and their auditing through Comptroller-and-Auditor-General of India (CAG).
Also on the cards is a move to ban government advertisements six months before the elections as “some of these are nothing but political advertisements”, Mr Quraishi said.
These are just some of the many reforms the Election Commission and the Union law ministry intends to bring in the poll process, he told reporters at the Judicial Academy during the Regional Consultation for Electoral reforms. —PTI

Sonia hears out people in Rae Bareli

Feb. 5: Over a thousand complaints greeted Congress president Sonia Gandhi in her constituency Rae Bareli, here on Saturday.
Mrs Gandhi met the people of Rae Bareli at a local guest house for over three hours on Saturday.
“Majority of those who met the Congress president came with complaints related to civic issues like bad roads, erratic power supply and inadequate arrangements for drinking water,” said UPCC spokesman Akhilesh Pratap Singh. A large number of youth also met her seeking employment opportunities. She patiently heard the complaints and assured them of action in the matter.
