Islamabad, Feb. 8: The Pakistan Prime Minister, Mr Yousuf Raza Gilani, is likely to drop over 90 per cent of the incumbent Cabinet members when he announces a new team later this week, official sources said.
“They will be almost all gone. Almost 90 per cent are sure to go. The new team will have mostly new people and those who have a clean record,” a source close to the Prime Minister said.
He added, “The Prime Minister has finalised a team from the PPP (Pakistan People’s Party) and he is consulting allies to name their members for the future Cabinet,”
The source said the President, Mr Asif Ali Zardari, also the co-chairman of the PPP, has his own list and the Prime Minister may have to compromise a bit before naming the new Cabinet.
“It will surely be a team comprising nominees of the President and the Prime Minister. Both will have their share,” he said.
The present Cabinet, with a strength of 62 members including ministers, ministers of state, special advisers and advisers, will be dissolved on Wednesday following its last meeting.
Surprisingly, except for the law and commerce ministers, no ministers or ministers of state have formally tendered their resignations.
