Expressing concern over Supreme Court’s recent order that mere membership of a banned outfit is not a crime, the BJP insisted that this could have serious implications for the country’s sovereignty.
The Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley said, “This judgment has very serious implications for India’s sovereignty. This judgment, if allowed to stand, will remove the entire pressure which has been built on insurgent banned groups.” SC had ruled recently that mere membership of a banned outfit should not lead to the person being treated as a criminal till he indulges in any illegal activity.
