Bengaluru, Feb. 9: The Saras programme of National Aerospace Laboratories, which was halted for nearly two years after a crash, will get a fresh lease of life now that the DGCA has given its nod to continue the programme.
In a day or two, the NAL will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to manufacture the Saras.
The NAL also announced that the expression of interests will be floated to build 70-90 seater National Civil Aircraft (NCA). It is expected to roll out its first aircraft for certification in six to seven years, the NAL head, Dr A. R. Upadhya, said.
