The Delhi police sleuths have pulled up their socks for the security on the Valentine’s Day. The cops say they will be using an iron fist to tackle any attempt to violate the privacy of individuals.
Senior police officers have also added that since there are reports that certain organisations are claiming that they would upload videos of “indecent behaviour in public by couples of Delhi on various networking sites” on internet to teach them a lesson in decency, steps have been taken for the security and privacy of the couples on February 14.
A senior officer, who will be involved in the security arrangements for the Valentine’s Day, said on Saturday: “We will not tolerate any such acts of violating individual’s privacy by some people who claim to be the moral police. Our men will ensure that minimum decency is maintained. Those who are caught shooting such videos will be arrested and their cameras and mobiles confiscated. We will also mull slapping the stringent IT Act against them.’’
At least 5,000 policemen will be on the streets, and in the markets and parks on Monday to ensure that there is no violence and harassment of couples, the official said. Recalling last year’s experience, a senior police officer said, “The Valentine’s Day celebrations were peaceful here with police taking adequate steps.’’ Four people were kept under preventive arrest on February 14 in 2010 while another 48 were kept under detention.
