Swan Telecom promoter, Shahid Usman Balwa, arrested by the CBI in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation, on Friday was sent to Tihar Jail after a Delhi court sent him to 13 days judicial custody till March 3. While seeking a 14-day JC of the accused, the CBI told special judge O.P. Saini, “They (Raja and Balwa) were evasive in
answering questions (during interrogation) and were hiding the real facts in the light of the facts and circumstances of the case regarding criminal conspiracy, trail of money etc.”
The CBI, in its remand application said, “Keeping in view the veracity, seriousness and importance of the matter, Mr Balwa is required to be kept in judicial custody as there is every likelihood of tampering of documents and his winning over or threatening witnesses.”
