In an unique initiative, Meghalaya government has decided to set up an institute to support all the line departments in ensuring better delivery system.
To be called the Institute of Governance, it will undertake research and study and help various government departments, NGOs, autonomous bodies as well as private agencies in human resource management.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said Rs 5 crore has been earmarked for setting up the institute.
"It has been designed for providing training to government officials to improve the system of governance and ensure better delivery system with transparency and accountability," he said.
The institute will help drawing up training programmes for officials, suggest ways for performance management, adoption of new technology and manage human resource development.
"It will also try to ensure corruption-free governance," Sangma said.
Besides, the government has also decided to set up an Institute of Entrepreneurship which would help provide training to various prospective entrepreneurs on skill development and capacity building besides holding career counselling programmes at school level.
"Questions have always been raised about employability of the youth from the state. It was on this ground that we are coming with this institute which will help bridge the deficiency in capacity building," Sangma said.anagement, adoption of new technology and manage human resource development.
