The CBI, which is preparing to file second chargesheet in the 2G spectrum scam case on April 25, has still not found certain crucial documents that are required to establish the chain of events in the irregularities committed in awarding Unified Access Service (UAS) licences during the tenure of A. Raja as Union telecom minister.
According to sources despite efforts by the agency, the CBI officials could not trace diary registers of the office of the then telecom minister. Besides, the documents submitted by one telecom company to the department of telecommunications (DoT) for allocation of spectrum on the basis of which priority of the companies was to be determined, has also not been traced so far, sources added.
“Both these documents are crucial to establish the chain of events. The agency officials, however, recovered other related documents which are said to be related to the missing documents one way or the other,” sources said, adding these documents have not been made available to the CBI by the suspects. This is the reason that the CBI has recorded statements of certain DoT officials, sources added. The CBI has also recorded the statement of Mr Yogendra Pandey, working as peon in the office of wireless advisor.
