A local court on Tuesday granted time till April 26 to enable an interpreter to submit correct version of witnesses' statements in the disproportionate assets case against AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa, after defence found faults in the translation.
Special court judge B.M. Mallikarjunaiah asked the court interpreter to submit correct version of witnesses by April 26 and adjourned proceedings until the date.
The defence had earlier pointed out defects in the Tamil to English version of the witnesses statement and asked for correction.
On April 6, the court had granted time till on Tuesday to the official interpreter to furnish the correct suggested version.
Of the total of 259 witnesses in the case, the correct version of statements of 179 witnesses has been incorporated so far.
