The Maulana Azad Medical College and the Safdarjung Hospital are soon going to launch specialised reconstructive treatment through sophisticated stem cell therapy with the help of a spray gun, an innovative technique developed by St. Petersburg University. The technique involves pasting stem cells and healthy skin on burns and then using a spray gun to accelerates the healing process. The technique will be available for the first time in the country.
The doctors first measure the nature of the burn, then use microchip to graft stem cells. Dr Vijay Kumar, head of the dermatology department, MAMC, said while speaking at a seminar.
Plastic and burn department head, Dr Narayan said that stem cell therapy for burns takes only one-and-a-half hours and the patient starts improving in a few days. This therapy gives 60 per cent faster results.
