India has beefed up security at all its missions and establishments in Afghanistan in the wake of intelligence inputs that Taliban and other terror groups may be planning strikes following the killing of Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden. Around 200 Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel, who are guarding the Indian embassy in Kabul, which has been targeted twice since 2008, and Indian nationals working on developmental projects, have been alerted of the possibility of the attacks. There are nearly 4,000 Indians deployed in various projects such as medical facilities, railway and road construction. The government has ordered maximum security for all of them, official sources said. New Delhi has also requested Kabul to deploy adequate Afghan security personnel in the Indian missions as well as other assets.
The intelligence inputs reveal that the terrorists could launch a wave of attacks, involving explosion of “car-bombs’’ followed by “assault by gunmen’’. Apart from the Indian missions, other reconstruction projects being carried out by Indians could be targeted by Haqqani faction of the Taliban.

India may send fresh comments against Dawood

May 5: India may send fresh comments to the United States about the cases pending against underworld don Kaskar Dawood Ibrahim. Dawood Ibrahim has emerged as the world’s second most wanted man, next only to a Mexican drug lord, after the killing of Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.
According to sources in the intelligence agencies, fresh comments about the cases pending against Dawood will be conveyed to the Interpol also. The Interpol has already issued a “Red-Corner” notice (RCN) against the underworld don.
Sources further said the RCN is expected to be renewed after emerging Dawood as the world’s second most wanted man. Now, Indian agencies have started collecting fresh evidence against Dawood, sources added. “Dawood, who is wanted in several cases, including 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, by the Indian agencies, is operating from the UAE and Pakistan. Inputs with the Indian agencies confirm that D-company is spreading its base in Bangladesh and Nepal also and his brothers are indulging in terror funding in India”, sources said. Dawood is currently on the wanted list of Interpol for organised crime.
