Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Shekhar Tiwari and 10 others were convicted by a trial court on Friday for lynching a PWD engineer, Manoj Gupta, in Aurraiya in December 2008. Tiwari and nine others were sentenced to life imprisonment while the MLA’s wife Vibha was ordered jailed for two and a half years for removing evidence from the murder site.
