Former chief minister and AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta here on Tuesday said that many IAS officers, who were pro-actively involved in the misrule of the Congress Party, are seeking to flee the state by taking deputation outside the state.
Accusing them of allowing the state’s law and order to deteriorate, Mr Mahanta said, “It seems to be a planned conspiracy of the ruling party which in collusion with a section of bureaucrats trying to spoil the state’s law and order so that new government starts facing the trouble since day one.”
Mr Mahanta said that there was an attempt to complicate the situation on some disputed trades of the state by encouraging rivalry between armed groups. Exuding confidence to form the next government in the state, Mr Mahanta also accused the Election Commission of India of failing to refrain chief minister Tarun Gogoi from using the state machinery while election code of conduct was in effect.
“Assam chief minister is issuing statements against Opposition political parties through the information and public relation department,” he said adding, “If it was not enough, chief minister also forced the Assam Public Service Commission to clear the appointment of the director in DIPR few days back.” He said, “Why such special preference was given to the chief minister, who not only kept on issuing instruction to SPs and DCs during the elections but even now.”
Regretting the role of the Election Commission, Mr Mahanta however, said that people of the state have voted for a change. He feared that the ruling Congress might try to buy the elected MLAs also to manipulate the mandate as they have collected huge amount of money from industrialists who were allowed to increase the prices of cement and steel iron soon after the polling was over in the state. He said that inquiry was an eyewash to deviate the attention from the real issue.
